OK, I know that "gooses" isn't the plural of "goose." After all, I DID teach English once in the very long ago. But why isn't "heese" the plural of "house?" Or "meese" the plural of "mouse?" And if you have more than one louse what do you have? Besides itches and scratches, I mean?

LYRICS:
A giggling gaggle of gooses... decided to fly to Las Cruces... They took to the air, but half way there... They wound up in Kalamazooses... From there they continued their flight... It was such a
beautiful sight... They crossed the nation in perfect formation... And slept by the waters at night

They squawked and they talked to each other... Cousins and sisters and brothers... I never
managed to fathom their language... But I would if I could have my druthers... No, I never learned any goose words... They were just way too obtuse words...Gooses it seems know just what they
mean... But to me they would be of no use words
